What has been implemented in its place is a higher taxation, essentially equal to spirits, and higher than wines. I kind of figured that taxes would go up on it, but it is too bad that wines now get to enjoy the lowest taxes on the higher alcohol side of things. It's a shame that my future trips to Alberta will be hindered because of this law. I would love to be able to buy some of the amazing craft beer that Alberta makes and imports that is currently unavailable to me. I hope that the law is repealed and I encourage those law makers to seriously considered educating themselves not only on whether or not this law will help to curb binge drinking but on the culture of craft and artisanal beer that is alive and well in Alberta.
